I have problem with installation Indiana RC0/RC1. GNOME doesn't come in. After keyboard layout and language, monitor switches into stand by mode. (No input signal) I have to create xorg.conf using command: /usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig Monitor SUN Microsystem In.c GDM-5410 (with older SUN's monitors, everything works fine) Graphical card: ATI Radeon 9200 SE Tested: Indiana RC0/RC1
Please attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log so we can see the details of what failed.
Created an attachment (id=188) [details] Xorg.0.log - Monitor name: GDM-5410
Created an attachment (id=189) [details] Xorg.0.log - Monitor name: GDM-5010PT With this type of monitor: GDM-5010PT everything works fine. (The same graphical card)
Dropped priority to P3, as very few people in the world have 6 year old Sun CRTs on the systems they'll be installing Indiana on. (Sun stopped selling the GDM-5410 in April 2002.) I've asked our Xorg configuration team to look at the logs to see if they can see what went wrong.
It's a little bit strange, because I don't remember any problems on this monitor with Nevada or Solaris before.
Created an attachment (id=208) [details] New radeon driver that has a fix for vga monitor detection problem
I experienced a monitor probing problem with xf86-video-ati-6.8.0 that sometime the probing does not detect EDID data for vga monitors, for which I had a temporary fix. I don't know if Jan's problem has the same root as apparently EDID data is detected. I am attaching new driver with the fix. To try, simply copy it to /usr/X11/lib/modules (32 bit).

Thank you for reply! Can you explain me, when I should copy your patch to /usr/X11/lib/modules ? In Live CD or after installation? Because I get error ( directory is just for reading) in Live CD. Thank you for answer.
thank you for reply. I am afraid, that the new driver didn't help. I did it how you wrote but monitor switched into stand by mode again.
It there is no problem with this monitor in nevada or other solaris release, can you send out a log file when it is O.K. using this monitor ?
Created an attachment (id=249) [details] Xorg.0.log from Nevada 79 yes, sure. Here is the Xorg.0.log from Nevada 79 I guess, that some changes happened between build 79 and 86 because I installed snv_87 with the same outcome - monitor switched into stand by mode.
Hello, Unfortunately, I don't know of a Radeon 9200 to test with, but the GDM-5410 I have at home works fine with my Vaio TZ running build 95 using an "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller". Similarly, the GDM-5410 monitor used to be standard Sun issue and we haven't seen any other occurrence of this bug, so we're unable to reproduce this for further testing at this time. Thank you, Clay
