RC2: Predictive Text Entry crashes while OPTION button pressed in "edit/preferences/control/" menu
Last modified: 2009-03-10 03:10:49 UTC
You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
1) boot from Live CD with default option (41;3)* 2) logout 3) set German locale and login 4) launch Applications/Universal access/Predictive Text Entry (PTE) 5) choose in its menu: edit/preferences/control/ 6) there is Input device field, where you can choose "Mouse input", "Socket input", etc. DO NOT click inside this field! 7) press OPTION button After some time PTE crashes. Remark1: steps 1-3 can be omitted while booting from HDDn in German locale Remark2: There are more locales causing this problem, not only German, but also French, Norwegian, etc.. BUT for example for Czech or Italy all worked fine. * optionally, now you can try steps 4-7 and it should work correctly (option button is grayed out)
After some testing - searching for which locales there is problem - happened strange thing. PTE worked correctly for En-US, En-UK, Czech, Italy, etc. BUT after this testing I returned on En-US locale and tried that again and PTE crashed!! It happened also for other "OK-locales" such as Czech, Italy, etc. After rebooting all worked fine again on En-US, Czech, ... locales. So this needs deeper examination. Also I should mention that, when you choose e.g. Socket Input in "Input device field", then you press OPTION button, it works. If you logout and login in same locale, PTE will work correctly - this "OPTION button" problem disappears, but will appear again if you change locales.
I can reproduce on gnome 2.20 on OS 2008.05 I can't reproduce it on gnome 2.22
