Description Qinghua Cheng 2008-10-27 21:59:07 UTC
Trackerd should start by default when a new user is logged in.

On 'OpenSolaris 2008.11 snv_101a_rc1.5 X86', trackerd and tracker-applet are
disabled in gnome-session-properties. So new user login can't start up
trackerd.

From what I heard from Tracker developer in Sun, tracked and tracker-applet
should be:
disable on Solaris Nevada
enable on OpenSolaris

Jerry Tan, could you confirm it?

Yeah, this is a bug in 2008.11. It has been fixed in Nevada B103.

When user start tracker-search-tool to do the search, trackerd will be started
automatically. So this is not a blocker issue.

A manual fix is to go to System-->Preferences-->Session, enable trackerd and
tracker-applet. Logout and login again will start trackerd automatically.
Comment 3 Jerry Tan 2008-11-20 00:24:38 UTC
trackerd is not enabled by default for nevada.
Comment 4 Harry Lu 2008-11-20 06:02:14 UTC
To clarifty, this is what we want by default:

tracked and tracker-applet should be:
disable on Solaris Nevada
enable on OpenSolaris

In OpenSolaris 2008.11, it is not enabled which is a bug. This bug is fixed in
B 103. So after user upgrade to B 103, tracker will be enabled in OpenSolaris
by default.
