I got completely white desktop after suspend/resume cycle on my Toshiba Tecra
S10 with compiz turned on. I unlocked the white screen with password and after
I switch the desktop effects (compiz) off, everything came back to normal.

Please include what graphics is on the laptop. You can get that info. either
by doing /usr/X11/bin/scanpci or from /var/log/Xorg.0.log. If this has intel
graphics, then this is a duplicate of 6821534

Laptop has NVIDIA Quadro NVS 150M graphics and runs driver version 180.29 from
opensolaris build 110

How is the suspend/resume cycle initiated?

If metacity is used (compiz off) before doing the suspend, does
the desktop look OK after resume?

Gnome panel -> System -> Power off-> Suspend

No problem with metacity

I can reproduce this on b110 if I enable "Extra" under
Preferences->Visual Effects. Blindly typing the password
brings the desktop back.

I cannot reproduce this on b110 if I enable "Normal" under
Preferences->Visual Effects.

I get this without needing to suspend/resume on my desktop, running on an nvs
280, with the latest NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-96.43.11-xVM.run drivers on nv_111.
Worked fine on nv_109. In my case, the entire screen is white, and no windows
are visible on top of it. Zooming out to show the virtual desktops, I get the
back background as expected, but each virtual desktop is a white square.

My graphics card is:

timf@haiiro[152] grep -i bios Xorg.0.log
(--) PCI:*(0@5:0:0) nVidia Corporation NV18GL [Quadro NVS 280 SD] rev 162, Mem
@ 0xfd000000/16777216, 0xb8000000/67108864, BIOS @ 0x????????/65536
(--) NVIDIA(0): VideoBIOS: 04.18.20.02.14

Interestingly, when trying "Normal" as per John's comments above, I get told
that we couldn't enable desktop effects. When trying "Extra", I get the white
desktop.

Please move this to a separate bug and don't overload this
bug for the M10 resume behavior with compiz.

I upgraded to opensolaris 111b today and when I enabled compiz (Desktop
Appearance -> Visual Effects -> Extra ) I got exactly same corrupted screen
full of white windows (see attachment) without submit/resume cycle too.

Is this still on the Tecra S10/M10 with Quadro NVS 150M for which
you filed the original bug? If so please supply the output of
/usr/bin/nvidia-SunOS-bug-report.sh.

I see this on my Tecra M9 both with and without compiz enabled, since upgrading
to 2009.06. Possibly related occasionally when I resume the screen will work
but the panels and any pull down menus have a white border. Seems very
reproducible unfortunately.

This is fixed in driver 185.18.14. I will deliver this driver to b117.
Until then you can download a copy here:

The plan is to deliver this to 2009.06 SRU 2.
