Created an attachment (id=1747) [details] screenshot During SST OpenSolaris build 111 testing we've found that Ultra45 workstation with XVR300 graphic adapter crashes when starting xserver. Machine restarts itself few seconds after the text login prompt appears, there is no panic, only OBP error messages when booting, see attachment ultra45.png for details. Sometimes (no more than 1 out of 5 attempts) xserver succeeds to start with Gnome power manager warning message and then freezes before xsession starts (see attachment pm.png and Xorg.0.log.old). The machine starts fine when gdm:default is disabled. We cannot reproduce this with XVR2500 graphic card, thus the problem seems to be XVR300 specific. Problem is not reproducible with Nevada snv_111(RE) build. Please see log files in attachment.

I have reproduced this with two discrete Ultra 45 machines and two XVR300 cards. With XVR2500 card the machine starts fine. Messages from the screenshot appeared only during the reboot after the xserver crashed. No such message is reported after I run reset-all from OBP, but even after clearing with reset-all OBP command the machine dies when xserver starts. *scenario one: 1. boot the machine - no visible error messages 2. xserver starts and waits forever with the "Install problem" message (pm.png) 3. log in remotely with ssh 4. provide "shutdown -i6 -g0 -y" 5. "JBUS-PCI" error messages are emitted 6. machine waits in ok prompt - See attachment Xorg.0.log.old for this session. - The last message in /var/adm/messages when xserver hangs: Apr 16 10:53:57 opensolaris gnome-session[556]: [ID 702911 daemon.warning] WARNING: No required applications specified *scenario two: 1. provide reset-all command in ok prompt 2. boot the machine - no error messages 3. machine silently reboots when starting xserver 4. "JBUS-PCI" Error messages are emitted 5. machine waits in ok prompt 6. boot the machine 7. machine silently reboots when starting xserver 8."JBUS-PCI" Error messages are emitted 5. machine waits in ok prompt there are empty Xorg.0.log and gdm/:0.log files created before the crash During my last test run the machine did come through scenario 1 first and then four times through scenario 2.
