As of 2009.06, search v1 has been the default search protocol used between the
pkg client and server.  Since the transport is being re-written post 2009.06,
and all new client use search v1, it's safe to remove v0 from the client.  The
servers will continue to support v0 for clients that lag behind.  The EOL was
discussed on the pkg-discuss list and no major objections were raised.

This bug is being fixed as part of the transport re-design.  A preliminary
webrev is available from:
